A Simple Procedure With a Quick Recovery

Endovenous laser ablation involves a small laser inserted through a needle into a vein that requires treatment. The laser is activated once it’s reached the desired location, creating pulses of light that collapse the vein and cause it to seal shut as the laser is pulled back through. This procedure is performed in-office under a local anesthetic.

Recovery from the procedure is fairly quick and simple, necessitating that you avoid intense exercise and activity for 48 hours. In the next two weeks, it’s advised that you wear compression hose.

During the recovery period, you may experience mild discomfort and there can be discoloration or bruising on your skin for up to 6 weeks. This is completely normal. Ibuprofen is recommended to alleviate pain and pressure.
