Choose the Right Spider Vein Treatment
We employ a variety of spider vein treatments, tailoring our approach to the unique needs of each of our patients. Our list of treatments includes:
- Sclerotherapy: A common spider vein treatment, sclerotherapy involves the injection of a solution directly into the affected veins. The solution will cause the vein to scar, forcing blood to reroute through healthy veins. The collapsed vein will eventually be reabsorbed into the body and fade.
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL): Intense pulsed light therapy utilizes a non-laser, high-intensity light for spider vein treatment. As the light is directed at the affected veins, the veins will sustain damage and scarring and ultimately fade away, similar to the results of sclerotherapy. IPL only affects the lower layers of skin, and will not leave any marks on the skin’s surface.
- Laser treatments: One common laser treatment for spider vein and varicose vein removal is endovenous laser ablation, whereby a small incision is made in the affected area, and a laser is used to destroy the vein directly. Patients are given anesthesia before the procedure, and most are able to return to work and normal activities the following day.
- Cosmetic sclerotherapy: This refers to the performance of sclerotherapy for those who would like to improve their physical appearance through the removal of visible veins, in consultation with one of our experienced medical professionals.
- Identifying and treating underlying causes: Frequently, spider veins are simply a secondary effect of an underlying cause, such as fluctuating hormone levels, vein diseases, or an insufficiently active lifestyle. Your medical provider will be able to counsel you in the steps that can be taken to address any of the root causes.
